Agentic AI represents a different architecture. Rather than reactive tools that wait for queries or rigid automations that follow predetermined paths, agentic systems operate with defined objectives and the autonomy to determine how to achieve them.

The distinction matters practically. An agentic system handling client enquiries doesn't just retrieve information—it understands the transaction context, recognises what stage the matter has reached, anticipates what information the client likely needs, and responds accordingly. When it encounters a question outside its confidence threshold, it escalates to a human. But critically, it learns from how that escalation gets resolved.

This is the feedback loop that current architectures lack. Every exception becomes training data. Every human intervention teaches the system something about the boundaries of its competence and how to expand them.
